What is the study about?

This study focuses on recording natural group conversations remotely to create high-quality speech datasets. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, ensuring clear audio and realistic dialogue patterns, including some overlapping speech.

Task Description:

Participation in this study will involve joining a remote group session on an online recording studio to record audio. Each session will include approximately 4 participants and 1 moderator and will last about 2 hours.

During the sessions, groups will discuss assigned topics or scenarios in a natural, conversational manner. Participants must be comfortable speaking for extended periods of time and engaging actively with others.

Who is eligible?

To participate you should meet the following qualifying criteria:

• Be 18 years or older.
• Be a resident of the United States.
• Be native speaker of English (US).
• Have a laptop or computer + a wired headset with a microphone.
• Be available for a scheduled online live audio session using an online meeting platform.
• May have to pass a 5-minute sample recording session to determine if your audio headset produces audio without echo.

Where is the study taking place?

This is a fully remote study. You can participate from the comfort of your home. The participant environment needs to be a quiet room with no echo.

How long does it take?

We estimate it will take you approximately 2 hours to complete this study.

How much is the compensation?

You will receive $85 USD for your successful participation.
