Zaatar Speech Collection - Arabic Egypt Speakers (Adults)

What is the project about?

The purpose of this project is to improve the functionality of Arabic voice recognition technologies used in educational platforms. We are looking for a wide variety of Arabic speakers with various accents, both adults and children.

Each participant, adult or minor, will need to record a series of sentences in Arabic, using our mobile application, DataForce Contribute. The selected candidates will be provided with the project guidelines, the scripts that need to be read, and instructions on how to download and use our app.

Who is eligible?

To participate you should meet the following qualifying criteria:  

Adults:  

- Be over 18 years old.  

- Have a smartphone device to download our app and use it for recording.  

- Native speaker of Arabic (Egypt).

Note that we are running this project for all Arabic accents, if your accent is not Egyptian, kindly check our website for the rest of the accents needed. You can also write to DataForce.Sourcing@transperfect.com if you want to get the registration link(s) for other Arabic accents.

Children (to be registered separately):

- Be 7 to 17 years old

- Native speakers of Arabic (Egypt). 

For this project we are looking for participants in specific demographic groups to help develop bias free technology that would represent everyone. To assess your accent, we will ask you to upload a short sample voice recording at the end of this application form. 

Where is the project taking place?

This is a fully remote project. You can participate from the comfort of your home.

How long does it take?

The project tasks are estimated to take up to 1.5 hours in total.

How much is the compensation for the participation in this project?

Adults: $27 USD  

Children aged 7 to 12 years: $45 USD

Children aged 13 to 17 years: $36 USD

If you participate successfully along with at least one of your children, you can also select Wire Transfer as the payment method. Wire transfers are available only for payments that exceed $50 USD. If your selected payment method is Wire Transfer, the payment will be received within 14-17 business days after acceptance of your delivery. Please note that you may incur transfer fees from your bank.

Please note that our Quality Assurance team will review all submissions to ensure they meet the project specific requirements. Compensation will only be provided for the recordings that pass the quality checks.
